EXPLORE BORNEO
Wildlife destinations
The majority of Sabah's iconic wildlife is found in the East coast nature reserves between the towns of Sandakan and Lahad Datu. Budget-conscious travellers will want to check out the Kinabatangan River whilst those on a quest for Sabah's rare & endemic species should not miss out on Danum Valley and Tabin Wildlife Reserve. An overnight stay at Turtle island will allow you to witness the magical laying & hatching of baby turtles and a trip to Sepilok sanctuaries will bring you up close to Sabah's endangered orangutans and elusive sunbears. For an unforgettable underwater wildlife experience, look no further than Sipadan Island, one of Asia's best diving destinations!

Climbing, hiking & caving
Looking for a challenge? Scale Mount Kinabalu and watch the sunrise from 4095m above sea level at Low's Peak or leave the crowds behind and climb Sabah's second highest (yet more difficult!) peak at Mount Trus Madi. Take a trek through Maliau Basin and experience Sabah's remote interior with beautiful waterfalls and challenging terrain. Mulu National Park in Sarawak boasts some of the world's most spectacular caves as well as pristine rainforest and great trekking and is a highly recommended for any visitor to Borneo!
Culture & local communities
Turn your visit to Borneo into an opportunity to support traditional communities through a longhouse or homestay visit. Your trip will directly benefit the communities hosting you and offer you a unique insight into the daily rituals and lives of your hosts. The coffee-farming Dusun in Kiau village, longhouse-dwelling Iban in Batang Ai and ex-head hunting Murut in Orou Sapulot all share a love for rice-wine and tales of the past, a visit to any of these communities will be an experience to remember!
Day trips from Kota Kinabalu
Leave the city behind and take your pick from these family-friendly activities within a couple of hours of Kota Kinabalu. Rafting, trekking, culture & wildlife, the choice is yours! We even offer a daily shuttle from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan and Sepilok which stops off at Mount Kinabalu, Poring hot springs and Sabah Tea Plantation allowing you to travel over to the East coast and see a few sights along the way.
