Here at River Junkie Tours, we work with a number of third-party accommodation & travel providers to offer a wide range of tours throughout Sabah as well as providing our own guides & vehicles in a number of locations. Our standard terms & conditions have been prepared in accordance with the terms we receive from our third-party suppliers and may be periodically updated.
River Junkie Tours Standard Terms & Conditions
1. PAYMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS
- A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, please pay by the due date provided to avoid cancellation of your booking. Exclusion: 50% deposit is required for all bookings for Borneo Rainforest Lodge & 5D4N Jungle in Style packages.
- Payments made for all bookings are non-refundable. All balance payments are to be settled at least 45 days prior to your tour commencement date.
- In the event you are unable to come and inform us a minimum of 14 days prior to your confirmed arrival date, we will credit any payments made towards a future booking up to a maximum of 12 months from the start date of your original booking. Exclusions: Rescheduling of Turtle Island, Sukau Rainforest Lodge & Borneo Rainforest Lodge tours is not permitted within 45 days of arrival. Rescheduling of Mount Kinabalu climbing packages is only permitted in the event of illness, injury or last-minute flight cancellation and is at the sole discretion of the accommodation provider.
- In the event that you reschedule your trip, any price difference between your old & new dates and/or rescheduling fees charged by third-party accommodation providers in accordance with their own terms & conditions will be applicable.
- All tours are provided on a join-in basis with other guests unless otherwise arranged.
- Prices are subject to change according to the government's implementation of taxes, National Park fee increases and price changes by our third-party suppliers.
- Tourism Tax of RM10 per private room per night is applicable to all stays from 1st Jan 2023 and is to be paid in cash at the accommodation.
- For each of our Mt Kinabalu packages, you will be making your summit attempt first thing in the morning when the weather is normally at its best. We obviously cannot control the weather or guarantee sunshine on the day you have booked and from time to time the Sabah parks rangers will close the summit trail and Via Ferrata activity if they deem it too dangerous to make the summit attempt. In the event that the weather is not at its best and the trail is closed, we will unfortunately not be able to offer any refund as the money you have paid has gone towards your climbing permits, accommodation, meals, guide, insurance and transfers, all of which are non-refundable.
2. PAYMENT METHODS
Overseas payments: Payments from outside Malaysia can be made in your home currency via Flywire. Once your booking is confirmed, you will received a link to the secure Flywire payment portal where you can choose your preferred payment method depending on your country of residence. Options will typically include bank transfer, credit card or PayPal plus popular country specific options such as AliPay or Union Pay in China.

Payments from within Malaysia: If you have a Malaysian bank account, the cheapest & easiest way to pay is via bank transfer to our Maybank account. You may also opt to pay using Visa or Mastercard, subject to a 3% processing fee. To process your card payment you will need to complete a credit card authorisation form and return to us via email.

3. health, safety & insurance
We take the health & safety of our guests very seriously and ask that you declare any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect you ability to undertake your chosen tour. In particular, all Mount Kinabalu climbers are recommended to get a medical check-up prior to attempting the climb. Medical certificates may be required for Via Ferrata climbers with pre-existing conditions, please declare any pre-existing medical conditions when booking your Mount Kinabalu climb.

4. LIABILITY
By joining a River Junkie Tour, you agree that you are responsible for your own personal safety, are willingly participating in the tour or service at your own risk and that we, River Junkie Tours, shall be exempted from liability for loss, injury, damage to property, personal accidents, delays, irregularities or any other occurrence beyond our control.
