Escape the hustle & bustle of Kota Kinabalu on this day trip to Kinabalu National Park, approximately 2 hours drive from the city. The park is nestled below the stunning 4,095m high Mount Kinabalu and benefits from a cooler climate making it a refreshing change from the tropical heat. The mountain park is a real botanical paradise with an incredible variety of different orchids, pitcher and other plants. Visitors will have a chance to explore the enchanting flora & fauna in the botanical gardens and/or hike some of the numerous trails the park has to offer.
Kinabalu Park, Sabah's first and only Unesco world heritage sight, is home to more than 5,000 species of plants and up to 400 different mammals and birds. Although large mammals are not commonly seen in the park area, endemic birds and smaller mammals like the Kinabalu shrew (endemic to Mt Kinabalu) are a common sight. On a fine day the views of Mt Kinbalu and the surrounding area are also breathtaking. |
